Health care for the military

Professional health services from SSAFA

Health care for the military community

Around the world our health care staff provide health services that specialise in patient-focussed care that meets the needs of military families.

SSAFA provides a fully integrated health service to military families and entitled civilians throughout Western Europe and the world.

Our skilled professional team is committed to working in partnership with military personnel, local health services and other agencies.

British Forces Germany Health Service

In British Forces Germany, we ensure that families living away from home can rely on the same high quality service that they would receive in the United Kingdom.

We provide our heath service together with our healthcare partners, Guy's and Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. We are located throughout British Forces Germany and also support isolated detachments in Southern Europe, Holland and Belgium.

Our team includes general practitioners, nurses, midwives, health visitors, allied health professionals and managers.

Meeting the health care needs of our Forces before, during and after their deployments is a key part of our work and another way that we can support Forces families.

Health care worldwide

Around the world our health care staff work in local communities to provide health services that specialise in meeting the needs of military families. We are here for you and your family in Cyprus, Gibraltar, Brunei, Canada and Nepal.

Our skilled professional team works together with military personnel, local health services and other agencies to provide a responsive service for you, wherever you are in the world.

Developing new practices

We are committed to developing innovative child and family services for the Forces community around the world.

In British Forces Cyprus our services include designated 'Health Zones' with one-stop access to health visiting services. Other support for Cyprus includes Community Children’s Nurses, our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and a Dietitian.

In Nepal and Brunei, SSAFA Community Nurse Practitioners are leading developments in Primary Care Nursing for soldiers and families.
