How we can support you
Our network of local volunteers and specialist Prison In-reach caseworkers provide advice and information. We can also offer practical support, such as getting hold of essential household items.
We cannot make cash grants or provide legal support, but we may be able to signpost you to the right organisations.
Our Prison In-reach service forms an essential part of our support for veterans in custody. SSAFA's specialist Prison In-reach volunteers are trained in all aspects of working within the prison context with a good understanding of the Criminal Justice System and the prison system. They are also equipped to help with issues such as housing and resettlement when veterans in custody get closer to their release.
We are looking for experienced SSAFA caseworkers to support veterans in prison and their families. If you are a SSAFA volunteer and you are interested in finding out more about specialist training opportunities in your area contact your local Branch Secretary.
