The drive kicked off at Goodison Park on October 18 and ended at Anfield on October 22 where they were met by BT Sport presenters Michael Owen and Robbie Savage. The team of four drove over 2,000 miles and stopped at each football ground along the way, where they took a photo and uploaded it to social media.
The idea, which has been 12 months in the planning, was thought up by Openreach customer service employees Dave Smith and Jamie Bacon. Before joining Openreach, Dave was in the Royal Artillery for 23 years and Jamie was in the Army Air Corps for five years. They were joined by two military friends Paul Thomson, a Regimental Sergeant Major and Tony Palin, an army veteran.
Dave said: “The lifelong support that SSAFA give to the armed forces and ex-armed forces is something that is very close to all four of us so I hope we can raise as much money as possible before, during and after."
Join us in thanking the team for their inventive fundraising idea and continued support.
