Becoming a Helper for SSAFA is special because you get to see first hand the difference you make to people’s lives.

About the role

We are looking for Helpers to become part of our committed teams working in local communities. We’re looking for someone with a couple of hours free each week to support our other volunteers with a range of duties, from office administration and taking part in fundraising events to promoting SSAFA to those who might need our support.

Becoming a Helper with SSAFA is special because you get to see first hand the difference you make to people’s lives. You’ll see how your time and expertise can benefit those in your community, as well as to develop new skills and meet some inspirational people in your area.

Who we're looking for

All our Helpers receive local induction training about SSAFA .

You do not need a Forces background to volunteer with us. Most importantly, we are looking for volunteers who will listen sensitively and treat people with respect at all times. We also welcome people who have:

  • Willingness to develop new skills and train for new things
  • Basic IT skills
  • Ability to work in a team and support others
  • Ability to work within our Volunteer Policy and Code of Conduct
  • Ability to work confidentially
  • A driver’s licence (for some geographical areas).
