Challenging the participants to the limits over 5 days, this trek will see the SSAFA banner fly proudly in some of the most stunning scenery on earth. Starting just outside of Reykjavik on August 19th 2017, the group will trek for upto 9 hours a day through lava fields, tundra and green hill, finishing off at majestic Skógarfoss, one of the most impressive waterfalls in Iceland with a 60-metre drop on 23rd August.
Each Openreach colleague is raising a minimum of £3000 for SSAFA, with all money raised helping to fund our confidential helpline ‘Forcesline’, ensuring we are there whenever we’re needed by someone in the Armed Forces family. You can support them by donating here.
SSAFA believes that the commitment of our Forces and their families deserves our lifelong support. So we provide practical, emotional and financial support to anyone who is serving or has ever served and their families. Everyone who joins teamSSAFA for the Openreach Iceland challenge helps us to continue our vital work with the Armed Forces family.
Openreach look after the local access network – the fibres, wires and cables that connect tens of millions of homes and businesses to phone, broadband, data and TV services. They work on behalf of the UK's communications service providers (the companies that supply your phone and broadband).
